South Carolina is excited to announce we are hosting our 4th annual PrEP Awareness Week September 25 – September 29, 2023! In partnership with the South Carolina AIDS Education & Training Center (AETC) we will offer up to 5 FREE CEUs for the webinars. The accreditation statement may be viewed below. The webinars are held Monday through Friday from noon to 1 pm.

Monday, September 25

Opportunities for Prevention at the Intersection of HIV and Mpox Diseases

Dr. Marco Tori will discuss populations affected by Mpox and HIV in South Carolina. He will also discuss interventions for prevention of Mpox and HIV in this population.

Tuesday, September 26

Integrating PrEP Services into Primary Care

Dr. Kamla Sanasi-Bhola will discuss the identification of PrEP candidates. She will also discuss the barriers to PrEP provision in primary care settings.

Wednesday, September 27

PrEP: It's Not Just for Men

Dr. Ada Stewart will discuss the impact of HIV in women. She will also discuss the potential solutions to address the disparities and barriers to PrEP uptake in women.

Thursday, September 28

Injectable HIV PrEP

Dr. Kenric Ware will discuss the safety and effectiveness data of injectable cabotegravir versus oral tenofovir/emtricitabine-based PrEP therapies. He will also discuss and evaluate access and utilization data of injectable cabotegravir on a local, regional, and national level. He will also discuss success to clients' self-reported perceptions of injectable cabotegravir and its value to individualized care.

PrEP and Sexual Health

Dr. Sarah Wright will discuss the importance of understanding sexual health in clinical practice. She will also discuss and describe the PLISSIT model and its application in a medical setting. College Sexual Health & Testing Events

Continuing Education Credits

CME ACCREDITATION STATEMENT:

"In support of improving patient care, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team."

Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits.
