McDonald's has removed two classic items from its menu (2024)
McDonald's have surprised customers by scrapping two classic items from its menu.
The fast-food chain has said goodbye to its strawberry and toffee ice cream sundaes - much to customers dismay.
The ice cream treat disappeared from the menu late last month with bosses saying the decision had been made because the puddings "weren't very popular".
One customer took to Twitter saying: "Not impressed @McDonaldsUK have taken off the sundaes. I don’t rate the McFlurrys. We were sundae eaters in my house. The toffee were my utter fav. No more ice cream at McDonald’s for me then."
In a twitter exchange with another, McDonalds said: "Hi, the Toffee Sundae and Strawberry Sundae were removed from the McDonald’s menu on Wednesday 26th September 2018, and they were removed because they weren't very popular.
"The Government recommendations regarding sugar also played a part in the removal."
NHS guidlines state that adults and children over the age of 11 should only consume up to 30g of sugar per day.
The 99p desserts were on the menu before the chain's McFlurries hit restaurants.
