Synopsis
What happens when “old” and “new work” collide? Barbara Lucke was the grand dame of the works council at Sander Versandhaus for decades. Now, after 30 years, she is unexpectedly voted out of office, loses her leave of absence and has to return to her old job as a former clerk shortly before retirement - in the department of her son Bastian, of all places, who as an up-and-coming department head wants and needs to impress with modern leadership.

"Alle nicht ganz dicht" (2024), directed by Lars Jessen, is a German TV comedy that ambitiously intertwines satire and heartfelt moments but often falls short. The story follows Barbara Lucke, a seasoned works council veteran, played by Ulrike Kriener, who is unceremoniously ousted from her role just before retirement. Thrust back into the job market, Barbara finds herself in a modern, corporate environment that starkly contrasts with her traditional values.
The film attempts to explore the generational clash within the workplace, using Barbara’s journey to highlight the absurdities of contemporary corporate culture. Despite a promising premise, the script struggles with coherence. The humor, although occasionally sharp, frequently feels forced, and the satire lacks the incisive edge necessary to leave a…
